Digging work commenced for bund on private land

Taking the residents of Markook village by surprise, a large contingent of some 100 police personnel reached the village on Sunday morning and digging work was commenced for a bund to be taken up on a private land as part of the Kondapochamma Reservoir project.

The revenue officials feigned ignorance and said that it had not came to their notice and that they were not aware of the development.

The bund work was taken up on the land belonging to P. Srinivas Goud of Mamidyala village in Mulugu mandal. His strategically located piece of land was not acquired by the government as the land owner had moved the court and the court gave a stay order in his favour and directed the administration not to take up any work.

Ignoring the court order, a large number of police personnel entered Mr. Srinivas’ field, ignoring his objection, and enabled the contractor to take up the bund work.

“Police should have taken the court’s permission to take up the work as I had already approached the court. They care nothing about the court order. When the police were trying to browbeat us with huge police presence despite the court orders, where can we go for justice and whom do we approach?” Mr. Srinivas Goud asked.

When contacted, a revenue official, on condition of anonymity, said that they were not aware of the incident and they were not involved in the process on Sunday.
