'CJ' could hold answers to Gold Coast homicide investigation, police say

A man who could hold the answers to the suspected slaying of a man found dead in a Gold Coast home is believed to have travelled to NSW.

Dre Nova, 38, was found dead in a lounge chair on Friday afternoon, having suffered significant injuries.

Police are searching for Coskun Marius, 26, who was believed to have been at the Surfers Paradise home when Mr Nova died.

"(Marius) will be able to contribute significantly to us developing a greater understanding as to the injuries which were sustained to Dre Nova," Detective Acting Inspector Matthew Ward said on Sunday.

Paramedics called police to an address on Markwell Avenue about 5.15pm on Friday after multiple calls were made to emergency services.

Mr Nova's body was discovered in a lounge chair with a head wound among other significant injuries, according to police.

Acting Inspector Ward said the injuries did not match self harm or a natural cause of death.

A crime scene was declared and an information centre established.

A post-mortem would be conducted on Sunday to help determine a cause of death.

Marius, also known as ā€˜CJ’, is about 170 centimetres tall, has a dark complexion with short hair, a goatee beard and a large, distinctive tattoo on the right-hand side of his neck.

He is believed to have been driving a 2017 white Hi-Ace van with Queensland registration 562-XHY. The number plates may have been changed.

The last-known movements of the vehicle were in the bayside suburbs of Brisbane on Saturday.

Acting Inspector Ward said neighbours were alarmed about the "unexpected" incident but he believed there was no concern for public safety.

"As I said it was an isolated incident and the nature of this circumstance would give any person a rise to being alarmed," he said.

Acting Inspector Ward said Mr Nova and Mr Marius knew each other.

Members of the public are warned not to approach the man or the vehicle and to immediately call triple zero if they see anything.

Anyone with information should call Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Investigations are continuing.
