Residents of Madhupur and Bortar villages in West Bengal’s Purulia district have decided to boycott the Lok Sabha elections to protest against the lack of development in their areas. The villages, which fall in Jhalda block, face acute water shortage, lack of roads and healthcare facilities. Rajiv Mahato, one of the villagers, said, “We have nothing here. No roads, no water, no Anganwadi. We demand that government should solve our issues.” Purulia will go to polls on Sunday in the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections.
