A 58-year-old supervisor at TSRTC was beaten to death by a group of ‘drunk’ persons at a marriage barat at Chilkalguda on Friday night.
The Chilkalguda police said at around 11 a.m., two different groups entered into an argument at the barat and they soon started attacking each other, which resulted in the death of P. Vijay. The police have arrested 10 persons so far.
Inspector R. Srinivas Reddy said prime accused Babish of Manikeshwari Nagar invited the victim’s son, Vishal, to his sister’s wedding, where they consumed liquor. “However, Babish’s family members and other relatives were upset over the presence of Vishal, as he had married one of their relatives, who later committed suicide,” he said. Following the directions of the family members, Babish requested Vishal to leave the place at which he got angry and consumed liquor at a wine shop. Later in the evening, he picked up an argument during the wedding procession.
Soon after learning about the fight, the victim rushed to the spot to rescue his son and was beaten to death by the group, Mr. Reddy said.
