A toddler suffered burns to 20 per cent of his body after a pot of boiling water fell on him.

The 20-month-old was taken to Westmead Children’s Hospital from Abbortsford, in Sydney's inner-west, on Sunday just after 9am.

It's understood a pot of boiling water fell on the child, according to CareFlight.

NSW Ambulance were the first to treat the boy for the burns.

His care was then taken over by CareFlight's critical care paramedic and a specialist doctor. 

Yahoo reported that the boy is in a stable condition.
