Couple dies in road accident in Barara

AMBALA: The Barara police have registered a case against unknown driver of an identified vehicle for allegedly ramming his car into a motorcycle following which a couple has succumbed to their injuries. The deceased have been identified as Manpreet Singh, 26, and Harpreet Kaur, 25, of Barara town in Ambala district.
The case has been registered on the complaint of Dalbir Singh of Dera Adhoya under limits of Barara police station.
The registration number of the car which caused the accident is also mentioned in the complaint.
Dalbir told, “The accident car is still present at the spot and the driver had fled the spot.”
The Barara police have registered a case against an unknown driver under Section 279 (rashing driving), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) to start the investigation.
Investigation officer, sub-inspector Om Prakash said, “The vehicle number has been noted and the driver is yet to be identified. We have registered a case under relevant sections of the law and efforts are being made to identify the driver. The post-mortem of the deceased couple will be conducted on Monday.”
