Submit petition seeking compensation

The body of S. Thilagavathy, 19, a second year college student who was murdered by a stalker at Karuveppalankurichi near Vriddhachalam on Wednesday, was handed over to her family after postmortem at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Villupuram on Saturday.

Earlier, her relatives had refused to accept the body after postmortem.

Action demanded

Meanwhile, relatives of the victim submitted a petition to District Collector V. Anbuselvan seeking stringent action against the accused.

They demanded adequate compensation to the family and a job to the family member.

The police said the victim, studying B.A. second year in a private college in Vriddhachalam, returned home on Wednesday evening when Akash, 19, of Peralayur village attacked her with sharp weapons. The victim, who was alone in the house at the time of the attack, was rushed to the Vriddhachalam General Hospital where she died.

The police said Akash followed Thilagavathy to her house on Wednesday and stabbed her when she spurned his proposal. He was arrested and remanded in custody.
