VILNIUS, Lithuania (AP) " Polls have closed in Lithuania, where voters cast ballots to elect a president since the current officeholder is being termed out of office.
Nine candidates took part in Sunday's presidential election. A runoff between the two top finishers would be required in two weeks.
The leading candidates included Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis, former banking economist Gitanas Nauseda and former Finance Minister Ingrida Simonyte.
President Dalia Grybauskaite is finishing her second five-year term as head of state in Lithuania, a Baltic country bordering Russia that is a member of the European Union and NATO.
Grybauskaite has been a strong critic of Russian President Vladimir Putin and campaigned on stopping corruption and improving Lithuania's economy.
Voters also considered a referendum on a constitutional amendment allowing dual citizenship for hundreds of thousands of Lithuanians living abroad.
