UP man held for thefts in trains

Vadodara: A native of Uttar Pradesh was nabbed outside Vadodara railway station for stealing valuables from passengers.
Detection of crime branch (DCB) had received a tip-off about Mulayam Singh Yadav from Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh lurking around the railway station in a suspicious manner on Saturday morning. The cops reached there and nabbed Yadav with his bag. On checking his bag, policemen found gold earrings, necklace, ring, silver anklets all worth Rs 98,171, three mobile phones and Rs 10,410 cash.
Yadav told police that he had stolen these valuables from trains running between Vadodara and Dahod. Offences were registered by respective passengers at Godhra and Dahod railway police stations.

Police said that Yadav used to target women passengers travelling in sleeper coaches. “He used to steal the ladies purses while the passengers would be asleep and go to the general coach when the train would stop in between. Later he would get down at any random railway stations,” a police official said.
During interrogation, cops also learnt from Yadav that in the past he was arrested by Ghaziabad railway police station under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and by Hayatnagar police station in Uttar Pradesh in connection with a murder case.
