MUMBAI: A hall packed with lawyers and some Bombay high court judges on Saturday bid a last adieu to city lawyer Shrikant Doijode who passed on May 9 after a brief valiant fight with cancer.
Doijode whose law firm Doijode Associates had a litany of big names among industrialists as clients, including the Nusli Wadia group, Niranjan Hiranandani, part of the Raheja group, Tatas, was humble and trustworthy, immensely skillful in his litigation craft and just as courteous. The large turnout for a prayer meet his wife Sangita held at KC law college was testimony to the high respect, the bar, the bench and litigants had for the “thorough professional’’ as a fellow reputed solicitor said.
“We have lost a good human being and a trusted friend. Hard to replace," said senior counsel Janak Dwarkadas, almost choking up as he looked at Doijode’s kind smiling face, now forever framed.
Dinyar Madon, another senior counsel, said, “He was extremely conscientious and hardworking and single-handedly built up a highly successful law firm," adding, “Doijode also was among the most congenial solictors in the city.’’
“He was an inspirational leader and a kind, generous employer," said Dwarkadas. Doijode’s team, including advocate Parag Kabadi and his other juniors, couldn’t agree more.
Saddend by his demise, the senior solicitor Rashmikant Dakshini later told TOI that Doijode was a genuine professional who was respected by opponents and judges for a professional approach in any court battle. He was equally respected by clients and peers for agreeing or disagreeing with a pleasant smile.’’
