On the last day of campaigning on Friday in the National Capital, BJP candidate from East Delhi Gautam Gambhir took onto Twitter and stated that he would hang himself in public if Aam Aadmi Party or the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal can prove that he had any links to the pamphlet filth. Gambhir, on his official Twitter account, wrote (sic) "Challenger Number 3 to @ArvindKejriwal and @aap. If he can prove that I have anything to do with this pamphlet filth, then I will hang myself in public. Otherwise @ArvindKejriwal should quit politics. Accepted?.
This comes a day after AAP candidate from East Delhi Atishi Marlena alleged that derogatory pamphlets were circulated in the area. Both Gambhir and Atishi have filed defamation notice against each other. The BJP also asked the East Delhi parliamentary seat returning officer K Mahesh to conduct a police probe into the accusations against Gambhir in connection with the alleged circulation of obscene pamphlets targeting Atishi.
The returning officer had earlier asked the police to investigate the case. On Thursday, Gambhir sent defamation notices to Kejriwal, his deputy Manish Sisodia and Atishi asking them to withdraw their charges against him and tender an unconditional apology.
Delhi's poll battle took an ugly turn after AAP candidate from East Delhi accused rival Gautam Gambhir of circulating a derogatory, scurrilous pamphlet on her ahead of voting in Delhi on Sunday.
