Marvel Comics No 1 was first published on August 31, 1939 by the company, then known as Timely Comics. To celebrate its 80 years' legacy in 2019, Marvel Comics No. 1000 will be released in August this year and it is touted to be "a massive collaborative effort that will see 80 different creative teams showcase Marvel's classic characters... and some brand new ones!", reads a statement on Marvel's official website.
Marvel Comics No. 1000 is expected to be of 80 pages and each page has been worked on by one of the 80 creative teams; the new comic book will follow Marvel heroes from Day 1 till present times. 'Each page of the comic will correlate to one year in Marvel history. Along the way, readers will see many of the marquee characters from the mighty Marvel universe like Captain America, Thor and Iron Man, and some less familiar ones, like Blue Marvel, Night Thrasher and the Three X’s,' reads a report by The New York Times.
Al Ewing, who was the writer of the Immortal Hulk series, is the main story writer of the
Marvel Comics No. 1000. Talking about it, he told This Week in Marvel, “There are so many threads in this mystery, so many different parts of Marvel you’ll find secret connections... There are a lot of synchronicities and echoes in this, and threads between all of that.”
While the cover art of the comic book is created by artist Alex Ross and it features a few of Marvel’s iconic characters from the last 80 years.
Marvel Comics No. 1000 will release in August 2019.
