Thiruvananthapuram: Two employees of Akkulam tourism village were transferred for improper upkeep of the
children's park. DTPC secretary ordered the transfer of supervisor Jayachandran and assistant manager Hariharan following a complaint.
A marriage reception was held at the renovated hall inside the tourism village on Thursday. The next day someone sent a complaint to tourism minister Kadakampally Surendran with a photograph showing the premises littered with leftovers from the party. Following this, the minister sought an explanation from the DTPC, which runs the facility. After a preliminary inquiry and DTPC secretary, Bindu Mani issued the transfer orders. Jayachandran was transferred to Chirayinkeezhu boat club and Hariharan was transferred to Shanghumugham tourism centre.
The employees, however, said that they were being made scapegoats and that no proper inquiry was held. “The premises were cleaned by 8.30 am the next day. However, the senior officials acted upon a photo, without waiting for a proper hearing,” said an employee at tourism village. TNN
