The Consul-General of India in Jeddah has said that due to large-scale construction works in progress by multi-national companies near Haram Sharif in Makkah Mukarramah, the areas which are traditionally occupied by Indian Haj pilgrims, all the 25,147 selected pilgrims could not be accommodated in the ‘non-cooking, non transport zone (NCNTZ) accommodation’, a category they had opted for.
A statement issued on Friday by Andhra Pradesh State Haj Committee Executive Officer S. Md. Tajuddin Arif quoted the Chief Executive Officer of the Haj Committee of India Maqsood Ahmed Khan and said of the 25,147 people selected for Haj pilgrimage this year , only 12,000 of them could be accommodated here, while nearly 13147 of them would have to be shifted to Azizia. He said the shifted pilgrims would be paying accommodation charges for Azizia only.
The committee has asked the pilgrims to send in their applications for change of accommodation category from NCNTZ to Azizia. The applicants should send their name, cover number and address by May 17 either to the AP State Haj Committee or Haj Committee of India. For more details, pilgrims can visit the Haj Committee website www.hajcommittee.gov.in, or apstatehajcommittee.com.
