East Champaran police on Saturday registered an FIR against the BJP’s candidate and its sitting MP from

Chhatauni police station after recovery of around Rs 4.09 lakh cash from her election office at a hotel in Chhatauni.
A flying squad team of the district administration conducted raids at her election office on Friday evening and recovered around Rs 4.09 lakh in cash.

Mukesh Chandra Kunwar said the FIR against the sitting MP was registered on a written complaint of the flying squad team’s magistrate Shravan Pandit. He said the FIR has been registered under sections 188 and 171 (F) of the Indian Penal Code.
Police said, the hotel room from where cash was recovered was booked in the name of the sitting MP.
Rama Devi told police that the cash was collected as contribution from her supporters and sympathizers.

Braj Bihari Prasad, is seeking re=election to make a hat-trick from Sheohar Lok Sabha seat. She had won the seat in 2009 and 2014 on BJP ticket.
The flying squad team also conducted raids at another hotel where the RLSP candidate for Purvi Champaran seat Aakash Kumar Singh had been staying. However, no cash was recovered from the hotel room of Singh.
Sheohar and Purvi Champaran lok Sabha constituencies are voting on May 12.
