Bogus voting: Case against 9 IUML workers

The police have registered cases against 10 people, including nine Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) workers, on charges of casting bogus votes here.

The IUML workers who were found to have cast bogus votes in booth number 166 at Pamburuthi under the Taliparamba Assembly segment in Kannur are Abdul Salam, Marshad, Unias K.P., K. Muhammed Anas, Muhammed Aslam, Abdul Salam, Sadiq K.P., Shamil and Mubashir were charged under Section 171 of IPC as recommended by Chief Electoral Office Teeka Ram Meena following a report submitted by District Collector Mir Mohammed Ali.

The Dharmadam police registered a case against Sayooj for casting bogus vote in booth number 52 at Vengad under the Dharmadam Assembly segment.

Official sources said that notices would be issued to more people to appear for questioning following complaints about bogus voting in different parts of the district.
