Telugu Desam Party national president and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has said that every Lok Sabha constituency in the State should have one Assembly segment like Kuppam, which helps in winning the Lok Sabha seat. One should remember that the majority from Kuppam constituency always helped in retaining Chittoor Lok Sabha seat, he said during a review meeting with party leaders and workers on Friday.
Mr. Naidu said the party desired to develop at least one Assembly segment in each Lok Sabha on the lines of Kuppam. “The majority in Kuppam will be 70,000 though I don’t visit there. But, in other constituencies, the majority or winning chances of the party is not on a par with Kuppam. The leaders will have to introspect. There should be a discussion in the party machinery in every constituency. Unless there is a debate or discussion, how can the party align with the people? Discussions, analysis and studies will strengthen the party and take it closer to the people,” he said.
Three surveys
During a review with leaders of Ichhapuram and Palasa Assembly constituencies, Mr. Naidu said he had three surveys with him. Booth committees, area committees and MLA/MP candidate assessments were taken. The election results would be out on May 23. The party would compare the assessments of the MLA/MP candidates, he said.
With Tekkali, Narsannapeta, Patapatam and Amudalavalasa leaders, he said the TDP should win every seat without any hassles. The party should not search for victory in any constituency. The agents should remember that the TDP’s fight was with a “criminal party”. There should be no room for casualness during the counting, he added.
