The Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe Is The Perfect Combo Of Speed And Comfort

When was the last time you thought about the Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe? Don’t worry, Chris Harris is here to remind perhaps the most underrated big GT available today in the market.

Ok, maybe the specific version isn’t available today as Chris drives a pre-facelift model, which is fitted with the old 5.5-liter engine and not the newer 4.0-liter one, but the core of the story remains the same; the S63 Coupe offers basically the perfect combination of speed and comfort and it doesn’t get the credit it deserves.

Perhaps the big Merc falls victim of the company’s Russian-doll design language, but the car itself is a lovely piece of kit.

The interior is simply one of the best in the business, offering faultless quality from the thick leather to the metal switchgear and from the dual-display setup to the comfort and isolation the lucky passengers enjoy.

The twin-turbo engine remains spectacular even today, producing 577hp (585PS) and 900 Nm (663 lb-ft), which is more than enough for effortless cross-continent trips and of course burning some rubber in pure AMG fashion as the Top Gear presenter demonstrates in his video.

Does it matterthat it weighs over 2 tonnes? Apparently not, as Mercedes has managed to give the S63 Coupe a genuine world-dominating feel, even when the road gets narrower. It’s a very talented car, one that you’ll truly enjoy driving even on challenging roads and that isn’t a trick every big GT can master.
