Tight security for IPL final between CSK & MI

Hyderabad, The high voltage grand final IPL match between Chennai Super kings and Mumbai Indians will be held under tight security at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium here on Sunday.

Rachakonda Police Commissioner, Mahesh Bhagwat, while addressing a press conference said, “In order to avoid any untoward incidents during the match day, a series of unprecedented measures were taken up at stadium for smooth run of the 12th edition of the IPL, the Commissioner said a total of 2850 police personnel including armed guards are deployed.”

Additional bandoubust arrangements made in and around the stadium round the clock with Octopus (two units) were deployed, he said.

“We have set up a joint command room to monitor all the CCTV footages for taking immediate action, and 300 CCTV cameras are being installed at in and around the stadium and also at vehicle check points, parking places to cover the entire area.

The spectators are not allowed to carry any banned items of electronics items, water bottles, sharp metal/plastic objects, writing pens and perfumes and outside eatables,” he informed.

Besides deploying separate teams for checking the movements of anti-social elements, also deploying SOT teams for keeping vigil on ticket sellers and their agents at the stadium, the Commissioner added.

Meanwhile, the tickets of final match were reportedly sold out within 2 minutes of being opened and the responsibility of tickets sales was given to an organisation named Events Now.

The stadium usually sells around 25,000 to 30,000 tickets but it has been reported that for the IPL final, only the Rs 1500, Rs 2000, Rs 2500 and Rs 5000 denomination tickets were sold, while the ones in the figures of Rs 10000, Rs 12500, Rs 15000 and Rs 22500 didn’t even come into the picture.

The match will start from 1930 hours and has a capacity of 38,000.
