Man kills wife, takes own life

Palanpur: After a heated argument with his wife, 40-year-old Raghunath Thakor allegedly hit her repeatedly with an axe killing her on the spot. He then committed suicide by hanging himself in the house, located in Udarda village, 20 km from Tharad in Banaskantha on Saturday morning, police said.
According to the police, Thakor was suspicious that Masiben Thakor (40) was having an extra marital affair. He used to remain upset about it and often quarrelled with her, which had become a routine affair. Married for 22 years, the couple has four children including a girl, and the eldest is 20 years old.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem and a case has been registered against Thakor, an official said.
