Desperate search for 95-year-old man missing for a week since heading to a car show in his 1967 sedan

A great-grandfather has not been seen in almost a week after he embarked on a solo road trip. 

Ronald McMaster, 95, left his home in Toorak, in southeast Melbourne, last Saturday, bound for a car club rally in Bermagui, where he was expected to arrive the next day. 

He was seen stopping to refill his tank at a service station on the Princes Highway at Nar Nar Goon at around 9am on Saturday.

But the last official sighting of the vintage car enthusiast and his creamy grey 1967 Vanden Plas sedan was at midday on Saturday in Rosedale, police confirmed. 

A witness reported seeing a man  who matched Mr Master's description on the side of the Princes Highway between Cann River and the NSW border at 5.30am on Monday.

However the report still remains unconfirmed. 

He has lived independently since his wife died in 2012.

'Our family call him Peter Pan because he seems so ageless, he was still playing tennis at 92,' his family said in a statement.

'He is fiercely independent and has a passion for vintage cars, he is a member of two car clubs. He has participated in many club rallies with Austin A40 and Wolseley clubs.

'We are asking for anyone who may have seen our dad or his distinctive car to please contact Prahran police station.'

Ronald is white, about 180cm tall, of thin build with grey hair and was last seen wearing a red jumper over a blue shirt and grey trousers.

His car number plate is: 987 84H.
