65-yr-old rapes minor girl in parked auto, held

CHANDIGARH: Police have arrested a 65-year-old man for allegedly raping a six -year-old girl in a parked auto-rickshaw near her house.
The accused has been identified as Chakori Ram, 65, a resident of Bapu Dham, Sector 26. Parents of the girl alleged she was playing with other children near her house on Thursday noon, when the accused allegedly took her to the isolated lane in the area. He raped her in an auto parked there, the complaint alleged. In the evening, when the mother reached home, the girl told her about the incident. Her parents took her to a police station and lodged a written complaint. Police conducted a medical examination of the girl and after the confirmation of rape, registered a case under relevant Sections of the IPC and Pocso Act. Later in the night, cops arrested the accused from near his house.

On Friday, a court remanded him in 14-day judicial custody.
On April 10, a 24 -year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl at Dhanas. The accused was identified as Ramji of Dhanas. Police said the woman alleged the accused entered her house in a drunken condition and raped her. On April 27, a neighbour was arrested for allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl. Police said the girl was alone at her house when accused barged into her house. On February 9, Sector 36 police arrested a person for allegedly raping differently-abled six-year-old girl in the forest area in Sector 52.
