Mahindra has launched the more affordable XUV500 in India. The new entry level W3 variant is priced Rs 12.28 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai),  which is Rs 59,000 less than the previous entry-level variant, the W5. 

The new base variant of the XUV500 gets a some set of features like fabric upholstery, power-adjustable ORVMs, projector headlamps and etc,. As for safety, the vehicle gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and engine immobilizer.  Mechanically, this model remais the same 2.2 liter mHawk diesel engine. This new engine delivers the power of 155 bhp (3750 rpm) and torque of 360Nm (1750-2800 rpm) and mated to 6-speed manual transmission. The XUV 500 now more affordable than Tata Harrier.
