Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials on Thursday trapped Mannepally Kamala Sri, District Mission Coordinator, Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA), Khammam, while she was allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹ 40,000 from a complainant for doing an official favour in her office chambers here.

According to ACB sources, Ms. Kamala demanded bribe from one K. Dhanalaxmi, Resource Person, Mahila Samakhya, Gollagudem, for recommending her name for a monthly honorarium of ₹ 4,000 and also for processing the loan papers of her “samakya” comprising several self-help groups.

Dhanalaxmi reportedly approached the ACB officials, who in turn laid a trap and caught Ms. Kamala "red-handed" while allegedly receiving bribe from the complainant through another resource person here on Thursday afternoon, sources added.

The ACB sleuths seized the tainted amount from the table tray in the office chambers of Ms. Kamala and booked her on corruption charges. The case is under investigation.
