Gujarat students did worst in chemistry, physics

AHMEDABAD: While in 2018 the two subjects in which the most students failed were biology and chemistry, this year they were chemistry and physics.
The largest proportion of students failed chemistry (27.14%), while 25.4% failed their physics exams. Usually, mathematics is the paper in which the largest number of candidates fail, but this year the proportion of those failing was just around 15.22%, six percentage points lower than last year.

According to board officials, among the languages, the English first language exam had the lowest passing percentage, 94.49%. The languages exams for Hindi, Marathi, Arabic and Urdu saw 100% success rates this year.
Interestingly, 68 students had Urdu as their first language paper, while 72 had chosen Arabic.
