4 blind students score 90% in Punjab board exam

Ludhiana: Impossible is one word not found in the dictionary of some students of Vocational Rehabilitation Training Centre in Haibowal Kalan. In this centre, four visually challenged students got nearly 90% marks in their Class X board exams of the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB).
Simranjeet Kaur (18) “Being blind by birth did not change anything for me. I did hard work that was needed to be done, and I got 88% in my Class X board exam, which gave me and my mother immense joy and happiness, as my mother was the person who helped me a lot. She used to record the whole syllabus for me, so that I could listen to it and learn. Basically, she too was learning stuff with me, and without her and my teacher, I would never be able to achieve this high percentage in my exams. I got 94 marks in Social Studies (S.St), and 92 in Hindi. In future, I want to study Music, and my favourite singer is Diljit Dosanjh.”
Jagsir Singh (17), the school topper, achieved 90.30%. He said: “I am really happy to top in my school. It was my dream which became true because of my friends and family, and especially my teachers who helped me all the time whenever I needed them. I had a total number of nine subjects — Punjabi, Hindi, English, Music Vocal, Music Instrumental, Social Studies, Physical Education, Agriculture, and Computers. I got 96 marks in Hindi and 131 in Punjabi out of 150. In total, I got 587 out of 650 marks. Although I got the most marks in Hindi, my favourite subject is Music. I will pursue Arts in the future, and I want to do BA afterwards.”

Rohitpreet Singh (18), who got 90%, said: “This is really funny. I never thought I will get so many marks. When I got the result, I was shocked and in a state of happiness. I was so happy that the hard work which I did paid off well, and I was having a total number of nine subjects as well as Punjabi, Hindi, English, Music Vocal, Music Instrumental, Social Studies, Physical Education, Agriculture, and Computers. I got most marks in Hindi 96, and in SST, I got 94 marks, in Punjabi I got 130 marks out of 150. In the future, I would love to take Arts, and then I want to do BCA in India itself.”
Jasveer Singh (19), who got 90.2% in his exam, said: “When I saw my result, I did not believe it was mine, and I told the person who was checking my result to read carefully if it was actually my name. When he confirmed it was me, I was so so happy that I can’t even express that feeling in words. It made my heart skip a beat. I had nine subjects in all — Punjabi, Hindi, English, Music Vocal, Music Instrumental, Social Studies, Physical Education, Agriculture, and Computers. I got 94 marks each in Music and Hindi, and in S.St, I got 93 marks. In future, I want to do LLB, and want to become an advocate to help the needy. I want to thank my teachers and my family for may achievement.
