After staying away from Bihar’s campaign so far, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is likely to come to the state for electioneering next week in the run-up to the seventh and last phase of Lok Sabha polls on May 19.

AICC general secretary Motilal Vohra has submitted a list of star campaigners for Bihar consisting of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress president Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh and others to the election commission for the seventh phase of polls.

Priyanka is likely to hold a road show in Patna.

Congress and Grand Alliance leaders are enthused over Priyanka’s visit, which they feel would not only help the party’s star nominee Shatrughan Sinha’s poll prospects, but also boost the morale of workers.

Party sources said the state unit would discuss the tour programme of Priyanka and finalise it soon. Bihar Congress president Madan Mohan Jha said the state unit had given an invitation to Priyanka and her tour to Bihar would make an impact in the last leg of polls.

“Her visit to Patna mainly would give the party’s campaign and candidate a big boost. A meeting has been called to discuss her proposed visit and a final decision would be taken soon,” said Kauqab Qaudri, working state president of the party.

Party sources said there was little time left for a big election meeting to be arranged for Priyanka and if her tour is finalised, a road show would be held in Patna, criss-crossing main thoroughfares of the state capital.
