Indore: Gathering at Saifi Nagar mosque, Dawoodi Bohra community members prayed for country’s progress, prosperity and peace on Friday. Followers of Islam believe Friday was chosen by God as a dedicated day of worship. Ramzan is the month dedicated to Allah’s worship, to prayer, fasting, zakaat, dua, recitation of the Quran, nurturing bonds of affection among family and mumineen, good deeds and words, and helping people. Friday of Ramzan plays an essential role for every follower of Islam, shared coordinator Burhanuddin Shakruwala.
In his address, Anjuman Burhani, president of New Saifi Nagar mosque committee said, “One of the most important aspects of Allah’s worship in Ramzan is ‘namaaz’.” Regarding namaaz, he cited that Rasulullah’s quote explaining various prayers for the holy month. Amil Shaikh Abbas Rampurawala shared various plans of distributing fruits, food and essentials among the underprivileged during the weekend. Mullah Talib Gheewala talked about various other essentials that followers must remember.
“We often feel that fasting is limited to limiting our food intake during the day, but we remember to fast to become better human beings.” He explained that Islam teaches its followers to fast in a way they control their addictions. “If we are keeping Roza and abusing people around, hurting another soul, then we receive no love from Allah,” said community member Hussein Iqbal Jagirdar. He added that Islam recommends that as much as possible, and especially in Ramzan, followers pray together in imamat-jama’ at namaaz. “Praying together helps us in staying together, sharing love and following the principles of Islam that ask us to spread joy and always connect with people,” community member Saifuddin Chakera said.
