LOS ANGELES, May 10, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Scratchpay and Green Dot Bank announced on Wednesday a partnership to create a new kind of bank account to help pet parents save for expensive visits to the veterinarian.
Scratchpay, an award-winning financial technology company focused on providing simple payment plans for veterinary care, will soon offer pet owners a new savings account and debit card to help pet parents plan for and pay for unexpected veterinary bills.
Benefits of the program, called Scratchpay Savings, will include:
- "Set it and forget it" savings plans through the Scratchpay app
- Customized debit card that allows convenient access to funds
- Pet-friendly rewards and incentives
- No minimum balance
- No monthly fee
Additional benefits of the savings account may include earning cash back at Scratchpay partner clinic locations, and special rewards for account holders who also have a Scratchpay payment plan.
The announcement came during Green Dot's Q1 earnings call. "[Scratchpay] is kicking butt," exclaimed Green Dot CEO Steven Streit, remarking on the company's rapid growth since launching in 2016, "[they] own the veterinary space, paws down."
"Scratchpay's current offerings help pet parents manage the high cost of veterinary care with convenient and transparent payment plans," said John Keatley, CEO of Scratchpay. "But we know that many of our customers want to be proactive and plan ahead for the next expensive trip to the veterinarian.
"Our new Scratchpay Savings account will help them do just that," continued Keatley. "Set aside funds each month for their pet's healthcare while also earning benefits and incentives to reward them for good behavior."
