The last rites of Mohammed Nadeemuddin (24), who was stabbed to death in London on Wednesday night, will be performed there itself since his family stays in London. His parents, who hail from Hyderabad, are settled in United Kingdom.

There is also a medical prohibition on the travel of the victim’s wife, Afsha, who is eight months pregnant. Nadeemuddin, who worked at Tesco supermarket in Wellington-street in Slough near London, was stabbed by an unidentified person in a car parking, when he was returning home. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to the injuries.

Detective Superintendent Ian Hunter of Thames Valley Police said, “We are still in the early stages of the probe and are working hard to establish the full crime.”

Speaking to The Hindu, Nadeemuddin’s family friend and advocate Faheem Qureshi confirmed that the last rites would be performed in London.

He said the victim was married to Afsha, a medical doctor 11 months ago, in Hyderabad.

“We are continuing our attempts to reach External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for travel permission for Nadeemuddin’s grandmother and his uncles, who stay in Noor Khan Bazar here,” Mr Qureshi said.

The advocate said the victim’s father, Hamiduddin, had gone to the UK a few decades ago and his family was settled there. “Nadeemuddin was born in Hyderabad, rest of his siblings are UK citizens,” he said.
