Prince Harry Meets The New Land Rover Defender As SUV Drops More Camo

Land Rover continues to build up the hype for the unveiling of the next-gen Defender by releasing more images of yet another camouflaged prototype. This one sports a special pattern that highlights the company’s sponsorship of the Invictus Games and reveals a less-camouflaged front end.

One of the first people to see it live was Prince Harry, from his position as Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation. The Duke of Sussex was photographed next to the Defender while speaking to an athlete.

He will also participate at a celebration event in Zuiderpark, Netherlands, where he will meet the organizers of the Invictus Games The Hague 2020.

“Everyone at Jaguar Land Rover is hugely passionate about the Invictus Games. We are delighted to continue as Presenting Partner for 2020”, said JLR’s CEO, Ralf Speth. “Having been to the US, Canada and Australia, we are excited to welcome this inspirational event back to Europe. I am also proud the competitors will be among the first people in the world to drive the new Defender when they compete in the Jaguar Land Rover Driving Challenge in The Hague.”

Aside from checking out the new Defender with Dutch Invictus Games medal winner Jack Pastora, Prince Harry will experience JLR’s prototype Mobility Door technology in a Range Rover Sport. Assisting him will be the winner of the 2014 Games JJ Chalmers, TV presenter and former Royal Marines solider. This system allows occupants to open and close the doors at the push of a button, without having to reach out to pull them shut.

The 2020 edition of the Invictus Games will take place between May 9 and 16, 2020, in The Hague, and will see 500 wounded servicemen and women, from 19 countries, competing in a series of adaptive sports.
