PATNA:
East Central Railway (ECR) general manager (GM) L C Trivedi held a high-level meeting with state DGP Gupteshwar Pandey at
Hajipur recently. They discussed various issues related to passengers’ safety as well as punctuality of mail and express trains in all the five divisions of the zone.
According to ECR’s chief public relations officer (CPRO) Rajesh Kumar, the DGP assured the ECR GM that the Government Railway Police (GRP) would cooperate with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to deal with people who unnecessarily disrupt the movement of trains.
“Both GRP and RPF men will now work together to maintain law and order at different stations falling under the ECR’s jurisdiction,” the CPRO said.
The DGP also took exception to the sudden spurt in incidents of alarm
chain pulling (ACP) which cause unnecessary detention of long distance mail and express trains. “GRP and RPF personnel will help stop such incidents in important mail and express trains passing through or originating from different stations under the ECR’s jurisdiction,” Kumar told this newspaper.
The DGP also expressed concern over frequent incidents of dharna on railway tracks at different places for reasons not directly related to the railways.
RPF chief security commissioner Ravindra Verma, Vaishali SP, Danapur DRM Ranjan Prakash Thakur and his Sonepur and Samastipur counterparts Anil Kumar Gupta, and Ashok Maheswari, among others, attended the meeting.
Train cancelled: The railways cancelled the Raxaul-Pataliputra Junction passenger (75215/75216) on Friday due to bridge maintenance work on the Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi section of the Sonepur division of the ECR. It also short-terminated the Samastipur-Muzaffarpur DEMU (75207) at
Sitamarhi and Darbhanga-Muzaffarpur DEMU (75255) at Runni Saidpur station.
Besides, the railways restored the services of the Udhna-Barauni Express (09027/09028), Barauni-Lokmanya Tilak (02062) and Agartala-Habibganj Express (01665/01666) from Wednesday. They had been cancelled from May 7 due to non-interlocking work on the Hajipur-Barauni section of the Sonepur division.
