The new york state department of transportation held an open house tonight to share their plans of constructing a safer path for pedestrians in downtown utica.
The dot is looking to provide a shared-used trail connecting baggs square to harbor point.
Officials say the project will improve pedestrians and bicyclist safety along north genesee street and support the ecominc revitalizatoin of the surrounding area.
Jimmy says: we have a trail that we started withthe arterial project and that runs down all the way down to cornelia street and on the back side of the aud is whitesboro street we have a 10 foot wide trail that runs back there, the city does and tis is a way to connect those two with this trail and ultimately our goal would be to connect with the canal trail contruction for the project is scheduled to begin this winter.
