IPL 2019 Qualifier 2: ‘Just look at how Liverpool beat Barcelona’ - Viv Richards’ advice to CSK ahead of DC clash
Liverpool recorded a stunning 4-0 win at their home ground Anfield after losing the first leg in Camp Nou 0-3 just a week before the second leg.
cricket Updated: May 10, 2019 16:21 ISTLegendary West Indies cricketer Viv Richards as advised Chennai Super Kings to take inspiration from Liverpool’s Uefa Champions League semi-final win over Barcelona ahead of the three-time champions’ Indian Premier League (IPL) Qualifier 2 match against Delhi Capitals on Friday.
Liverpool recorded a stunning 4-0 win at their home ground Anfield after losing the first leg in Camp Nou 0-3 just a week before the second leg. Richards feels knock-out matches are won by sides which bank on team work rather than individual brilliance.

“This is a clash of experience against youth and DC’s energy has made a big difference for them throughout the tournament. CSK will have to match that energy in cricketing terms. They have plenty of experience and a guy like Dhoni with the kind of ability he has can single-handedly steer a game. But in these knockout games, team work often makes all the difference. Just look at how Liverpool beat Barcelona in the Champions League,” Richards wrote in his column for Times of India.
“I would love to see CSK have someone like a Dwayne Bravo bat up the order if needed. He is a player who has an infectious energy that can electrify the rest of the team,” he added further.
Chennai Super Kings have won both their encounters against Delhi Capitals this season and will be looking to maintain their winning run against Shreyas Iyer-led side on Friday.
