PEHOWA: BJP’s Kurukshetra candidate Nayab Singh Saini had to face a protest during a public meeting in Bhainsi Majra village of Pehowa block of Kaithal district late on Thursday evening.
Sources said junior state minister, Saini, was in Bhainsi Majra to address a public meeting with other BJP leaders, when dozens of youth from neighbouring Sarsa village reached there and started raising slogans against BJP and Saini.
Soon, the group started pelting stones in which a personal security officer (PSO) of Saini and some villagers were injured. Saini and other BJP leaders were taken to their vehicles safely. The rear windshield of a car of minister’s convoy was also damaged.
A BJP worker from Bhainsi Majra village, who was present during the incident, told TOI, “Some politically motivated youths from Sarsa village interrupted the function and started raising anti-BJP slogans and within no time they pelted stones. They attacked us and a PSO and some villagers have received minor injuries.”

The village falls under the jurisdiction of Pehowa police station. Police said that they had already started an investigation into this matter and were trying to identify the protesters who attacked the minister's convoy.
Pehowa police station SHO Gurvinder Singh said, “After the incident no person has come for medical yet. A complaint is likely to be registered in this matter. Action as per law will be taken against the miscreants once the complaint is received.”
