Coimbatore: Hoax calls give sleepless nights to police. A 48-year-old man made a phone call to police control room on early Friday morning claiming that unidentified people had planted bombs at his house at Konavaikkalpalayam in the city. A team of police rushed to the spot and came to know that it was a hoax call.
R Ramalinga Ganesh, 48, from Mudhaliyar street at Konavaikkalpalayam near Vellalore here, made a phone call to the state police master control room, Chennai, from his mobile phone on Friday at 12.30am. He said that unidentified people had planted bombs at his house and don’t know when the bombs would be exploded. The control room police from Chennai, immediately alerted Coimbatore city police modern control room and informed about the phone call.
Night duty beat officers and a patrol team police went to house at Konavaikkalpalayam and conducted search. Later, the police came to know that it was a hoax call. Preliminary inquiry revealed that Ramalinga Ganesh had separated from his wife 12 years ago and he was residing along with his parents. Eight years ago, he was mentally affected and has been taking treatment. He had made the hoax call to the police control room.
