Gurgaon: Two armed men robbed a
sweet shop owner of Rs 20,000 in
Badshahpur on Wednesday night.
According to Vinod Kumar — owner of New Mamta Sweets and Restaurant— the incident happened around 10.30 pm on Wednesday when he and his employee Pawan were at the shop.
“Two men came on a scooter and approached me. I was at the cash counter. One of them pulled out a pistol and fired two rounds in the air and asked me to hand over the cash. Fearing that they would kill me, I opened the cash box and gave them whatever money it had — Rs 20,000. They took the cash and fled,” Kumar said.
Eyewitnesses told police that the scooter did not have a registration number. “Gujjar was written on the number plate of the scooter,” a local said. Vinod told police that the
CCTV camera installed in the shop was defunct, else it would have helped police as their faces were not covered.
An
FIR has been registered against the two under Section 379A (
snatching) of the
IPC and sections 25-54-59 of the
Arms Act at Badshahpur police station.
“We are trying to identify the accused with the help of CCTV footage of nearby area. We will soon arrest the accused,” said police spokesperson Subhash Boken.
