‘Heatwave to continue in Prakasam, Nellore for two days’

Dog days are here to stay as the mercury breached the 45°C mark in several places in Prakasam and Nellore districts on Thursday.

The highest temperature of 46.47°C was registered in Konakanamitla (K.K.Mitla), followed by Chimakurthy(46.44°C), Kandukur(46.24°C), and Rajampalli(46.17°C) in Prakasam district. Denizens sweat it out in Ongole as the temperature hovered over 44°C. Overnight rain did not bring relief.

Thunderstorm likely

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heatwave to continue in the coastal districts in the next 48 hours. Thunderstorm accompanied by gusty winds are likely thereafter in isolated places.

The mercury touched the 45°C mark in Kavali and Gudur in Nellore district. Udayagiri and Venkatagiri recorded 44°C, Kovur 42°C, Nellore 41°C and Atmakur 40°C.
