Vadodara: Bringing a respite to passengers reeling under the impact of grounding of Jet Airways, Air India, will commence a daily morning flight from Vadodara to Delhi beginning next month.
An official from the airline informed TOI that the national carrier will commence daily flight from June 5. The flight will depart from Vadodara at 6.50 am and will reach Delhi at 8.20 am. The incoming flight from Delhi will depart at 4.45 am and will reach Vadodara at 6.20 am.
“The morning arrivals would give passengers the benefit of a full working day both at Delhi and Vadodara,” a release issued by Air India said.
“The morning flight is being started following strong demand from passengers and travel agents,” said the official.
With this, Air India will be running two daily flights to Delhi, connecting Vadodara to the national capital. Before a couple of years, it used to run morning flight which was later changed to evening flight.
But the long-pending demand of passengers and travel agents that the national carrier should start a flight connecting Vadodara to Mumbai is yet to be addressed. “Jet Airways has withdrawn the slots but it is yet to cancel them,” said the official.
According to Vadodara airport director Charan Singh, the airport will regain its passenger movement by the end of June. The grounding of Jet Airways had impacted five flight movements. But while Indigo has already started a morning flight to Delhi, it is expected to start an afternoon flight to Mumbai from May 15. SpiceJet too is expected to start a new flight by end of this month or early next month, officials said.
