ACROSS THE SOUTH

It appears the mississippi river is rising again... with experts predicting another 50-foot crest at vicksburg...... it crested at 51 feet in march, then fell, but has remained above flood stage... the national weather service says it all depends on what we see over the next few days... and you hear joel say it all the time when it rains -- "turn around, don't drown"... but for one mississippi woman, things went wrong... this happened in ridgeland... the woman ended up in a flooded ditch which swept her toward a culvert.... employees from nearby businesses jumped in and pulled her to safety... the side of the road."

"she was actually trying to do the right thing and turn around, however the water had gotten to a point where the white line wasn't visible and she ran off the side of the road... police say this is another good example of how quickly things can turn dangerous during a flash flood.... flooding video behind you and yesterday's heavy rain may bring significant damage in grenada... the city manager says the city still feeling the effects from above-average rainfall that began in february... and this new round makes things worse... this kind of rain."

"so you already have places where people backyards have kind of collapsed in the creeks, and those areas will continue to have problems in this kind of rain."

City officials say they are working to fix these problems... new information on a case we've been following since monday... two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the death of a biloxi police officer.... 20 year old dalentez brice left and 21 year old joshua kovach right are each charged for accessory after the fact in the capital murder case of a biloxi police officer robert mckeithen.... w-l-o-x t-v reports the officer will be laid to rest monday... two teens are charged with making bomb threats against two north mississippi schools... the tate county sheriff says a 17-year-old and a 13-year-old were arrested thursday... this after notes about bomb threats were found in the bathrooms at strayhorn elementary and strayhorn high school.... their cases will be handled in youth court... mississippi's state superintendent says school districts won't have to use their own money for teacher pay raises... the department of education is still figuring out how much money is needed... they were short because the department didn't know how teachers were coded in its own computer system... lawmakers
