Gurgaon: Connecting with workers, largely hailing from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, in Gurgaon’s industrial areas,
Lalu Yadav’s daughter
Anushka Yadav on Thursday held several public meetings as part of her campaign for her father-in-law
Captain Ajay Yadav, the Congress candidate from the constituency.
On Thursday, several worker unions in
Manesar and other industrial areas extended support to Captain Yadav. Anushka spoke about how Lalu Yadav had fought for the rights of the working class in Bihar. When she asked the gathering whether they will vote for the Captain, the crowd replied in the affirmative.
Using her Bihari connect and accent to good effect in the public meetings, Anushka narrated stories of her father, the former Bihar chief minister.
Lalu himself is conspicuously absent from the national electoral discourse, as he is spending time in jail after being convicted in several cases in the fodder scam.
Anushka also reminded workers and small businessmen that they were the worst affected during the five years of BJP rule, and should therefore teach it a lesson by supporting the Congress candidate in this election.
Captain Yadav, who was present with Anushka in most of her meetings, said, “Laluji remains unmatched when it comes to wooing the rural electorate and the common man. In Gurgaon too, where there are around 1.5 lakh voters from UP and Bihar, Laluji has a huge fan following.”
