Who is Daniel James? Man Utd set to sign former Leeds target in £15m deal
MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly on the verge of signing Swansea winger Daniel James - Here is everything you need to know about the youngster.
After a hectic transfer deadline day, Swansea star James begrudgingly headed back to Wales after seeing his proposed move to Leeds fall through.
The 21-year-old was all set to join the Elland Road outfit before Swansea decided they wanted to keep him until at least the end of the season.
The Welsh side were said to be unhappy at Leeds' £7m plus add-ons offer, which would have came into effect this summer had Marcelo Bielsa's men been promoted to the Premier League.
James has since continued to be a key part of Graham Potter's side as the recently relegated side battled away in mid-table.
But it looks as though the tricky winger is now set to join United in a deal worth £15m.
Sky Sports are today reporting a move is close, which means club such as Leeds and Newcastle are set to miss out.
The latter have been heavily linked with a move for James in recent days as Rafa Benitez looks to add quality to his ranks at St. James' Park.
James has made 33 league appearances for Swansea this season, plus a further five in the cup.
He has also chipped in with five goals and 10 assists in all competitions.
James has not only shone at club level this season but has also bagged his first two caps for Wales.
He scored his first goal for his country earlier this year, netting the only goal as Ryan Giggs' side beat Slovakia in a Euro 2020 qualifier.
Discussing his future back in February, James said: “I think the negotiations are taking place now.
"I am just waiting on that, I’m happy with it and am letting my agent and the club deal with it and hopefully it happens soon.
“I want to get into the Premier League and I’d love to do it with Swansea.
"There may be a time (when I have to leave) but that’s in the future.”
