Collector promises to deposit R&R amounts in court after May 10

The government is going all out to achieve the target of completing the Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) package programme by May 11, as fixed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

As part of that, notices are being pasted on the houses of those who have refused the R&R package cheques.

“Lands of ...son of... house and land is getting submerged under Mallannasagar being constructed in Vemulaghat in Toguta mandal of Siddipet district. He/she has rejected to cooperate in the socio-economic survey (SEC). He/ she also refused to accept notice informing about collecting of compensation, R&R and site certificate being allotted for residence. Hence notice is being pasted on the house in the presence of two villagers and village revenue officer,” said the notice.

On Thursday, Special Deputy Collector and Land Acquisition officer issued notices to those who filed writ petitions in the court seeking R&R. B. Balavva and others of the village are some of them. “You have filed a writ petition in the court stating the government has been acquiring land for Mallannasagar without providing R&R for you. These are being distributed at panchayat office On May 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hence, you are requested to collect R&R cheque and residential certificate,” read the notice.

Officials not present

However, one of the villagers on condition of anonymity said that no revenue officer was present at the panchayat office which was mentioned in the notice and it was full of security personnel.

“Still there are about a dozen farmers of the village who are fighting cases. If no revenue officials are present at the panchayat office where do we go?” asked a villager.

In a recent release, Collector D. Krishna Bhaskar has made it clear that the R&R package amounts of those who refused to collect the cheques will be deposited in the court and they can collect them from there.
