Mumbai: Hosts Catholic Gymkhana dished out an outstanding fighting performance and scored a stunning 4-3 win against formidable U K United in a thrilling men’s open first round match of the Catholic Gymkhana Rink Football Tournament, at the Catholic Gymkhana’s artificial turf, Marine Drive, here on Thursday. Aman Meher who struck a brace of goals was the star of Catholic Gym’s win, while his teammates Yash Khanvilkar and Dhiraj Tandel played good supporting roles and contributed with a goal each to secure their victory. United scored through Pratik Koli double strikes one from Riddic Carlo.
Young enterprising striker Sakshi Mange struck both the goals to steer Athlon FC to a fluent 2-0 win against former champions Sea View SC in a Women’s Open first round match.
Future Stars had a rewarding day, as both their Women’s teams and the Men’s team won their respective matches. Future Stars Pink defeated Speed Stars SC 2-0 and later Future Stars Blue blanked Sellebrity FC-KNFC 5-0 in the women’s competition. In men’s action, Future Stars got the better of S. United 4-1.
