Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be speaking to the press for the final time this season as he previews Manchester United's upcoming Premier League fixture against Cardiff at Old Trafford.

The United manager will be looking to end the disappointing season on a high against already relegated opposition and put an end to a dismal run of form which has seen them win just one of their last six matches.

Solskjaer will be looking to rebuild his squad over the next few months and he could also provide a transfer update ahead of the summer window opening next week.

The Norwegian manager is also expected to give some early team news ahead of the weekend, with Mason Greenwood and Tahith Chong two youngsters who will be hopeful of a start on Sunday afternoon.

Cardiff have never kept a clean sheet in 15 away games against United in all competitions (W3 D6 L6).

This is the last time you’ll be seeing the press room for a while...well, until those signings start flooding in.

The truth behind United links with James

United have made no contact with the representatives of Swansea City’s Daniel James, MEN Sport understands.

Contrary to reports that United were ‘frontrunners’ to land the £10million-valued winger ahead of Liverpool, it is believed James isn’t attracting top six interest as yet and, despite fitting United’s profile of transfer target, isn’t on United’s radar.

The Reds want young homegrown talent to supplement their squad this season and are keen on Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, West Ham midfielder Declan Rice and Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi.

United looking to improve Premier League record this weekend

United have won 18 of their 26 closing day Premier League games, more than any other side in the competition. They’ve not lost such a game since 2006-07 (0-1 vs West Ham).

Greenwood to get his chance this weekend?

Mason Greenwood was named the Jimmy Murphy Youth Team Player of the Year for 2018/19 last night, but his week could get better.

The England youth international is in line to feature against Cardiff this weekend and we are likely to get an update from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this morning.

The two players who could make their debuts this weekend

We could see two United debuts this weekend after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer promoted six youngsters to first team training ahead of the Cardiff City match on Sunday.

Angel Gomes, Mason Greenwood, James Garner and Tahith Chong all trained, while there was also an opportunity for Dylan Levitt and Arnau Puigmal.

Spanish midfielder Puigmal, 18, and Welsh Under-19 international Levitt are yet to make a first-team appearance, but that could change this weekend.
