Amid Pitroda row, Congress says Riots & Violence have no place in our society

Negating the row over Sam Pitroda remarks that ‘ hua to hua’ Indian National Congress in a statement today said that party abhors violence of any kind, against any person of a group of people based on their caste, colour, region or religion.

Mr Patra also sought an apology from Congress President Rahul Gandhi and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi over the issue.

Sam Pitroda’s remarks on 1984 anti-Sikh riots reflect the ‘arrogance’ of the Congress, PM Narendra Modi said while addressing a poll rally on the last day of campaigning for the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections in Rohtak.

Earlier BJP has demanded sacking of Congress leader Sam Pitroda over his alleged objectionable remarks on 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Talking to reporters, party spokesperson Sambit Patra came down heavily on Congress over the issue saying Mr Pitroda’s remarks are like rubbing salt on the wounds of the riot victims.

He claimed that no justice was done after 34 years of the unfortunate incidents during Congress regime and it is the NDA government which formed SIT on it and culprits like Sajjan Kumar were sent to jail.
