Acts of generosity continue for young Camp Fire survivors at Inspire School of Arts and Sciences

Today marks six months since the camp fire ripped through paradise, magalia and concow.

We have seen numerous examples of generosity... action news now reporter laura eng tells starts us offf tonight another act of kindness involving young camp fire survivors.

Jenny: it's just so surreal, i think about being at the airport and thinking, yes, i'm going on a trip, i'm going away!

Jenny hernandez says she's never traveled out of the country before.

I honestly wasn't sure how i was going to pay for all of it.

Like my family, we've been struggling for a while.

She is a camp fire survivor and among several theatre students at inspire school of arts and sciences chosen to perform abroad in festival in edinburgh, scotland this summer.

This is the first time for inspire to go to the edinburgh festival fringe.

Theatre teacher erin horst said fundraising has been a challenge, especially since the camp fire affected a dozen of her students... but she didn't give up hope.

Our entire community has been impacted to some degree so i wanted to make sure we were going to go on this trip no matter what.

And thanks to a generous donation from c- e-o bob gogel*go-gel* of worldstrides, horst can fulfill her promise to her students.

The festival will cover the rest of what is still owed, but the school will need to cover this down the line, horst says.

We know that it is transformationa l for these young people and the fact that we can provide some financial support to help make this trip happen is just the right thing to do.

Laura: take a look at this graph behind me over here, this shows how much the class is hoping to raise for their scotland trip, as you can see the class is at now about 88 percent of the funds raised, which totals to a little more than 150- thousand dollars.

Amy: it was honestly amazing that we got that support.

Amy lewis lost her paradise home in the camp fire, but she said it's been special having her theater group behind her in these challenging times.

You know, we are butte strong we are paradise strong, there's just support coming from everywhere, but i don't know, it's just beautiful to see.

Laura: right now the group still needs to raise a little more than 33-thousand dollars for the trip.

If you would like to donate, we'll have more information on our website.
