'Ready to back Rahul Gandhi as PM if Delhi gets full statehood'

NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party is ready to support Congress president Rahul Gandhi as a prime ministerial candidate and a Congress government at the Centre if Delhi is granted full statehood, AAP's national convener, Arvind Kejriwal, said on Wednesday.
In an interview to CNN-News18, the Delhi chief minister said he was ready to support any party other than BJP at the Centre after the elections provided it agreed to grant full statehood to Delhi.
Making it clear that he does not want to become the Prime Minister, Kejriwal said, "Our target is to keep the Modi-Shah duo out of power at any cost." West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee, he said, can, and should, become PM. AAP will even support BJP's Nitin Gadkari, he added.
In the morning, however, the chief minister hit out at Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, saying she was wasting her time by campaigning in Delhi.

The Aam Aadmi Party has made full statehood its main election plank in Delhi.
It has been claiming that the lack of full statehood creates obstructions in the work of its government in Delhi.
