Opting to bat first, Rovers finished the first day’s play at 236 for three. The opening duo of captain M Kaushik Gandhi and southpaw B Anirudh Sitaram put on 101 runs in 41.1 overs with Kaushik contributing 40. Anirudh was unlucky to miss out on his hundred by just two runs when he was dismissed for a well-made 98 (224b, 6x4, 1x6).
Anirudh also added 102 runs for the second wicket with the in-form B Aparajith in 30.2 overs. Aparajith got out for 52 (97b, 5x4, 1x6) to increase his run-tally to 1281 this season.
