Elephants with symptoms of ‘musth’ will not be allowed to enter Swaraj Round on May 12, 13 and 14, District Collector T.V. Anupama has said.
Briefing about the preparation of Thrissur Pooram here on Thursday, she said elephants, which get panic with sounds also will not be allowed in the round.
However, the Collector refused to comment on Thechikkottukavu Ramachandran, an elephant banned from public ceremonies. A petition regarding parading of the elephant would be considered by the High Court on Friday, she said.
Strict control would be imposed on Swaraj round during the display of fireworks. People would be allowed only 100 m away from the fire line, she said.
Both the Thiruvambadi and Paramekkavu Devaswoms have been allowed to use 2,000 kg of gun powder. The level of sound pollution as well as air pollution will be checked during the fireworks display.
The KSRTC will conduct special services from May 12 to May 14 in connection with the pooram. LED video walls will be installed in various positions in the city to watch pooram events, the Collector said.
